About The Position

PAML, a Labcorp company, is seeking a Reference Testing Clerk to join its team in Fairfield, California. The role prepares specimens and test requests for testing at Labcorp or contracted reference laboratories, and releases referral test results into the computer system. The position also supports customer and laboratory needs while helping ensure accurate handling and processing of healthcare tests.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfort handling biological specimens.
• Ability to accurately identify specimens.
• Basic computer and data-entry skills.
• Well organized, with a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or more of specimen-processing experience.
• Six months or more of experience in a clinical, hospital, or research laboratory.
• Associate's degree in Medical Lab Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related science.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Research, troubleshoot, and resolve customer and specimen problems.
• Send test requests to the proper location and release test results.
• Assist clients with specimen-related requests and inquiries.
• Process specimens to be sent to additional facilities.
• Provide support to various areas of the laboratory.
• Sort, rack, and retrieve samples.
• Prepare record logs in a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
