About The Position

PAML, a Labcorp company, is seeking a Reference Testing Clerk to join its team in Fairfield, California. This position prepares and sends specimens and test requests to Labcorp and/or contracted reference laboratories for testing, and releases referral test results into the computer system. The role also supports laboratory operations and responds to client and specimen-related requests.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Exceptional customer service.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfort handling biological specimens.
• Ability to accurately identify specimens.
• Basic computer and data-entry skills.
• Well organized, with a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or more of specimen-processing experience.
• Six months or more of experience in a clinical, hospital, or research laboratory.
• Associate's degree in Medical Lab Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related science.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for various analyses and testing.
• Research, troubleshoot, and resolve customer and specimen problems.
• Send test requests to the appropriate location and release test results.
• Assist clients with specimen-related requests and inquiries.
• Process specimens to be sent to additional facilities.
• Provide support to various areas of the laboratory.
• Sort, rack, and retrieve samples.
• Prepare record logs in a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
