About The Position

Responsible for emergency assistance casework, food pantry, assisting in fund-raising and seasonal programs. This role involves interviewing clients, managing assistance requests, maintaining client files, tracking referrals, completing reports, and managing the food pantry and school supply program. The position also includes assisting with community volunteers and other duties as assigned by the County Coordinator and North KS Field Representative.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school education
  • Business/office work experience
  • Volunteer organization and supervision experience
  • Casework experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and employee manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and paperwork
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients and employees in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in basic units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Valid driver's license from the state in which you reside
  • Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business
  • Maintain regular and punctual work attendance
  • Interact with others with courtesy and tact
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects in an organized and efficient manner to meet tight deadlines
  • Work under stressful conditions
  • Respond to crisis situations in a calm and effective manner
  • Complete projects on schedule
  • Maintain confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Some post-secondary education preferred
  • Ability to speak and understand Spanish and English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with others

Responsibilities

  • Set appointments with clients as needed
  • Handle all incoming and outgoing mail
  • Answer phone, talk with clients, donors and general public in person
  • Interview clients and cover intakes on all assistance request following the guidelines
  • Assist with community food drives
  • Create and maintain all client files while adhering to confidentiality standards
  • Track referrals to other agencies
  • Complete monthly statistical report and submit by the first of each month
  • Manage the food pantry
  • Manage the school supply program
  • Other duties as assigned by County Coordinator and North KS Field Representative
  • Assist overseeing and directing community volunteers
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Salvation Army policies and applicable laws
