About The Position

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing, evaluating, and managing the overall daily operations of the designated Center. The primary concerns are programs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, program safety, community relations, and youth membership administration. The role involves managing the delivery and supervision of a variety of youth programs, supervising a team of Program Instructors, and ensuring compliance with operational, program, and safety standards. The Director will coordinate services with local schools, referral sources, and students, and represent the Center in the community to build a professional and positive image of The Salvation Army. This role may require transporting youth center members and staff, and serving as a liaison with Corps programming staff to identify and incorporate mission alignment and outcomes. The Director will participate in the Salvation Army’s ministry advancement by collaborating with Salvation Army Officers to ensure Red Shield Youth Centers provide an engaging, enriching, and empowering environment where youth develop Christ-like character, preparing them to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field AND three (3) years of proven experience in managing programs for youth, preferably in an after-school or community center setting; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
