Recycling Equipment Operator - Part-Time
About The Position
The Recycling Equipment Operator provides engineering equipment operation in support of the Installation Virginia Qualified Recycling Program (QRP). The role identifies, collects, separates, stores, and packages qualified recyclable materials, and prepares recyclables for sale and shipment. It also manages daily operations of the Installation’s 180-day hazardous material transfer station. This is a part-time civilian position, limited to 1,500 hours per year (an average of 29 hours per week), and is ineligible for state benefits. The position is restricted because its funding is non-general and/or non-recurring. Military service is not required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of engineering equipment operations in diverse terrains and routine equipment maintenance.
- Knowledge of recycling facility operations best practices and methods.
- Ability to apply heavy physical effort, including continuous bending, turning, and moving hands, feet, and legs to operate equipment and attachments.
- Ability to tolerate constant vibration, jerking, and generally uncomfortable conditions.
- Eye-hand coordination skills and excellent visual depth perception.
- Knowledge of basic safety and OSHA procedures and regulations, and ability to understand and follow all safety protocols and OSHA procedures and regulations.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; the license must be maintained throughout employment.
- Working knowledge of hazardous material policies and standard operating procedures.
- Must obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
