About The Position

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking a Recruitment Co-op student to join their team in January 2027 for an 8 or 12-month term. This co-op position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Human Resources within the mining industry, specifically supporting the recruitment of hourly positions for mine operations and maintenance teams. The role involves various HR tasks, including application screening, interview scheduling, pre-employment checks, and assisting with onboarding. The co-op student will also contribute to research, report writing, and the evaluation of innovative ideas. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an Undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources
  • Motivated self-starter; able to prioritize work under pressure and show great attention to detail while maintaining confidentiality and a high level of professionalism
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts to multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)

Nice To Haves

  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License or extra-provincial equivalent, without learner's restrictions is preferred
  • Experience with HR programs/software would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Contribute to the application of Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Support with the recruitment of hourly positions for the mine operations and maintenance teams
  • Sort and categorize applications, conduct pre-screens and schedule interviews
  • Assist with completion of pre-employment requirements, including reference checks, drug testing, offer letters and support with onboarding process
  • Assist with career fairs/info sessions
  • Collaborate on research and report writing for the human resources department
  • Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business
