About The Position

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking Environmental Science Co-op students to join their team in January 2027 for an 8 or 12-month term. This co-op opportunity offers various roles within Water Strategy, Water Quality, Terrestrial Science, Land Strategy, Engineering, and Data Management. EVR is committed to responsible resource development, environmental performance, and building strong partnerships. As part of the Glencore Group, EVR operates four steelmaking coal mines in British Columbia, employing over 5,000 people. Requirements

  • Working towards an Undergraduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Forestry or Hydrology
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License without restrictions
  • Able to operate vehicles at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain
  • Motivated self-starters with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic work environment with a willingness to work outdoors
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels and partners
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Update and manage environmental data and reporting in our Environmental Data Management System (EMS)
  • Assist with on-site research and development activities as well as monitoring, sampling, inspecting, and reporting for environmental reclamation and geotechnical compliance
  • Water movement tracking, water management and water treatment
  • Project Management tasks, including safety and contractor supervision, and project planning
  • Involvement in wildlife monitoring projects, and Biodiversity Management Plan updates
  • Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business
