Engineering Co-Op (January-May 2027)
About The Position
The Engineering Co-Op will work at Medline’s Namic site in Glens Falls, New York, which manufactures fluid delivery devices for angiographic and cardiac procedures, along with custom kits. The co-op will join an Engineering department of approximately 30 technicians and engineers and collaborate with Quality, Planning, and Sourcing. Working directly with senior engineers, the co-op will focus on projects assigned by upper management. Project work may include product integration, product and process development, process improvements and validations, work measurements and standards, and cost-benefit analysis. Assignments may be individual or group-oriented and range from daily activities to projects lasting throughout the co-op term. The role offers hands-on experience in the medical device industry and opportunities to take ownership of projects.
Requirements
- Background in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
- Unrestricted permanent US work authorization.
- Strong leadership abilities and demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organization, communication, data analysis, and follow-up skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Nice To Haves
- Junior standing and a minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
- Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software preferred.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles preferred.
- Knowledge of database applications such as Access or FoxPro is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute activities to qualify devices for the Glens Falls facility.
- Verify assembly labor standards.
- Support process development and process validations.
- Analyze and correct bottlenecks in production processes.
- Conduct time studies for new assemblies and cost-benefit analyses.
- Conduct laboratory testing for process validations or feasibility studies.
- Submit engineering change notices to update process documentation.
- Update product drawings for design changes.
- Communicate with suppliers and other divisions about device costs, drawings and bills of materials, and packaging.
