About The Position

The Recreational Activities Coordinator plans and leads activities for inpatient patients to support their well-being, purpose, joy, and healing. The position works under the Director of Clinical Services and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, families, and coordinators to support patient treatment. The role involves patient interactions individually and in groups, monitoring patient safety and health, completing admission assessments and progress notes, and maintaining activity supplies and equipment. The posting describes the position as weekends/PRN.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Any required Missouri state certifications.
• At least one year of experience in therapeutic recreation within a psychiatric setting.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and assist with moving patients.
• Calm, resilient approach to managing stressful situations or challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead activities during days, evenings, and holidays to support patient well-being.
• Connect with patients one-on-one and in groups while monitoring their safety and health.
• Complete initial patient assessments within 72 hours of admission and maintain accurate progress notes.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, families, and coordinators to support patient treatment.
• Order and maintain activities supplies and equipment.
