About The Position

Pacific Grove Hospital is seeking an Inpatient Psychiatrist to provide clinical services to patients at its 68-bed acute psychiatric and chemical dependency hospital in Riverside, California. The role includes diagnosing and treating mental illnesses through psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. The caseload is 1.5 units, or 34 beds.

The schedule is Saturday and Sunday during flexible business hours, for two weekends per month or more if requested. On-call coverage runs from Friday at 5 p.m. through Monday at 7 a.m. Compensation is $3,500 per weekend, with payment per evaluation and follow-up. The position is identified as a 1099 contractor role.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO).
• Licensed in the state in which the facility operates.
• Board certified or board eligible in psychiatry.
• Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and in accordance with regulations in the state where the practitioner will work.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of post-graduate practice experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services to patients at the facility.
• Practice within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations and by corporate and facility policies or procedures.
• Review patients’ medical information to assess medical stability and offer medical recommendations.
• Evaluate patients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
• Treat patients or direct their treatment using psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
• Review and complete medical information for individual care plans, and document services and information in a timely manner.
• Maintain confidential documentation, compliance, and billing in accordance with policies and procedures.
