About The Position

Pacific Grove Hospital is seeking an Inpatient Psychiatrist to diagnose and treat mental illnesses through psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. The hospital is a 68-bed acute psychiatric and chemical dependency facility in Riverside, California, with three self-contained units for voluntary patients.

The psychiatrist’s caseload is approximately 1.5 units, or 34 beds. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday during flexible business hours, two weekends per month or more if requested. On-call coverage runs from Friday at 5 p.m. through Monday at 7 a.m. Compensation is $3,500 per weekend, plus payment per evaluation and follow-up. The position is offered as a 1099 contractor role.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO).
• Licensed in the state where the facility operates.
• Board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry.
• Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and in accordance with applicable state regulations.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of post-graduate practice experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services to patients at the facility.
• Practice in accordance with medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations and corporate and facility policies and procedures.
• Review patient medical information to ensure medical stability and provide medical recommendations.
• Evaluate patients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
• Treat patients or direct their treatment using psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
• Review and complete medical information for individual care plans, document services, and record information in a timely manner.
• Maintain confidential documentation and comply with billing policies and procedures.
