About The Position

Under close supervision of the Recreation Manager, or designee, performs varied routine duties in assisting the Leisure Services Department. Work is performed with some independence and reviewed through conferences and results obtained.

Requirements

Excellent customer service skills.
Knowledge of a variety of recreational activities and equipment.
Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the play of a variety of recreational games.
Ability to responsibly oversee the use of a recreational facility.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous relationships with the public.
Ability to maintain simple records.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Demonstrated reliability and dependability.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Skill in the safe operation of a light motor vehicle.
High school attendee, diploma, or GED; supplemented by some work experience in recreational activities or related environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must have CPR, AED (automated external defibrillator) and First Aid within six (6) months.
Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Ability to communicate non-verbally to public – Character Performer.
Reaching, bending, and lifting.
Lifting objects of 15-50lbs.
Use of fingers, use of hands.
Sitting, standing, walking, running.
Ability to access, input and retrieve information and data from a computer.
Ability to access file cabinets for filing and retrieval of data.
May require the ability to perform and/or demonstrate various physical skills involved in recreational programming.
Age 16+ for Character performers, event assistance
Age 18+ for Facility attendants, event/program assistance

Nice To Haves

For character performers, costume temperature varies, confining space, limited range of vision.

Responsibilities

Front desk customer service, including guest check-ins, registrations, and basic transactions while maintaining an organized reception area.
Handle customer inquiries regarding schedules, services, and policies.
Serve as facility reservation attendant, greeting customers, overseeing facility rentals and center spaces, and ensuring rules and guidelines are followed.
Perform recreation field maintenance, prepare for games and leagues, and monitor facilities to ensure guest safety and facility upkeep.
Assist with the set-up, teardown, and execution of special events, concerts, holiday celebrations, and other community programs.
Perform as a recreation character with high energy and enthusiasm at public events, promotional, and marketing appearances.
Open, secure, and clean facilities for programs/events/rentals.
Enforce rules and regulations of proper facility use; maintain orderliness and conduct daily inspections of recreational areas.
Issue equipment; collect fees and memberships; maintain records/logs/scorekeeping, if required; ensure the proper care and use of equipment.
Assist contractual instructors in setting up and maintaining required equipment & records.
Interact professionally with members of the public.
Perform special assignments or projects as assigned.
Evening and/or weekend work required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
