About The Position

Under general supervision, the Recreation Supervisor instructs or trains clients and/or students in an assigned area as part of a program that includes an organized agenda of practical and workforce-readiness instruction. The position plans and coordinates a comprehensive recreational program for the facility population and provides instruction tailored to individual and group needs.

Requirements

• Associate degree in the area of assignment from an accredited college or university; or one year of experience required at the lower-level Practical Instructor 1 (EDT010) or an equivalent position.

Responsibilities

• Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet clients’ varying needs, abilities, and interests.
• Assess students’ educational and adjustment needs through direct observation and testing.
• Conduct classes, workshops, and demonstrations in subjects such as language skills, life skills, and workforce-entry skills.
• Conduct recreational activities to teach decision-making and social skills, improve physical fitness, and offer leisure options.
• Counsel and instruct clients in daily living habits and work routines.
• Estimate materials needed for inventory and specific areas, including cost.
• Instruct clients or residents through lectures and demonstrations of methods and techniques.
• Plan and coordinate a comprehensive recreational program for the facility population.
• Plan practical instruction to meet individual and group needs.
• Repair, adjust, and alter equipment and tools as needed.
