About The Position

This position is responsible for facilitating the programming and operation of the Anchorage Parks and Recreation facilities and summer camps. The specialist will deliver quality programs, help staff connect with facility user groups, monitor facilities and programs, and permit recreation facilities. They will act as a facility lead, providing necessary training and guidance to ensure outstanding customer service, quality programs, and safe facility operations. This role is open to the general public and current Municipal employees and is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA).

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and two (2) years experience leading, directing, supervising, coaching, or teaching children and/or adults at a recreation facility, a childcare facility, a childcare program, camps, educational institutions, therapeutic recreational programs, team, organized youth programs, or other similar programs.
• OR Associate’s degree in Physical Education, Parks & Recreation, or a related discipline and experience leading, directing, supervising, coaching, or teaching children and/or adults at a recreation facility, a childcare facility, a childcare program, camps, educational institutions, therapeutic recreational programs, team, organized youth programs, or other similar programs.
• A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License at time of hire.
• American Red Cross First Aid and American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification or equivalent within 30 days of hire.
• Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400).
