Salt Lake Behavioral Health is seeking a dynamic and talented PRN Certified Therapeutic/Music Recreation Specialist. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Recreational Therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience, knowledge and understanding of psychiatric patient care techniques and mental illness preferred.
  • Current national certification (CTRS) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification required.
  • Current license (TRS) through Utah Department of Professional Licensing required.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Successfully complete our current training for restraints and seclusions within 90 days of employment.

  • Knowledge and understanding of psychiatric patient care techniques and mental illness preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and implementing therapeutic and evidence-based Recreational Therapy services at Salt Lake Behavioral Health in order to meet the physical, cognitive, emotional, social and cultural needs of patients.
  • Defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Supporting patients in their mental health journey.
  • Building a strong therapeutic alliance through empathetic and continuous patient care, observation, interaction and role modeling to patients.
  • Conducting assessments.
  • Facilitating RT group interventions.
  • Documenting progress.
  • Discharge planning for assigned patients.
