Recreation Leader-Before/After School Child Care Program
About The Position
The Sonoma County Family YMCA is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and caring individuals to join their team as a Recreation Leader for their before and after school childcare program. This is a part-time school year position supporting elementary-aged youth in a safe, engaging, and enriching environment. The core operating hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This role is ideal for those pursuing a career in education, childcare, recreation, social services, or who simply enjoy working with children, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact in the community.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Minimum 6 months of experience working with children in a classroom, childcare, recreation, camp, or similar setting
- Ability to successfully complete DOJ and FBI background clearance, including sex offender screening

Responsibilities
- Leading creative and engaging activities, games, crafts, and enrichment programs
- Supervising children and ensuring their safety, well-being, and positive experience
- Supporting homework, literacy development, and academic success
- Building positive relationships with children, families, and fellow team members
- Assisting with family events, special programs, and community activities
- Helping maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program environment
- Serving as a positive role model who reflects YMCA values every day
