York After School Child Care Aide (Before &/or After School)
About The Position
This position serves children ages 4-12 in an After-School setting. We are looking for applicants with an upbeat personality, a love for working with kids of various ages, and the desire to be a positive role model. Applicants must be available to work until the end of June, aligning with the York Elementary School District Calendar. Summer work is also available through our Rec & Camp programs. This is a part-time position averaging less than 30 hours per week, with shifts typically Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 5:00pm, plus availability for scheduled staff meetings/trainings.
Requirements
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law.
- School Age Child Care Clearance per NYS regulations as required.
- At least 18 years of age to work in Prime Time and Child watch.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and New Employee Orientation and Child Abuse prevention training within 60 days of hire date.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
Nice To Haves
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Previous experience with diverse populations.
Responsibilities
- Implement curriculum within established guidelines.
- Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans.
- Supervise children, classroom, and all activities.
- Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Conduct family conferences, and maintain positive relationships and effective communication with families.
- Engage families as volunteers.
- Maintain program site and equipment.
- Maintain required program records.
- Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
- Promote the physical, intellectual, social, cultural, and emotional well-being of the children.
- Work with the staff team to plan and implement activities.
- Provide direct leadership to assigned group(s) and maintain constant visual contact with all assigned children.
- Participate in daily activities and aid children in completing tasks, including land and water-based activities.
- Assist in assessing child abilities and developmental stages.
- Build enthusiasm for activities and programs.
- Complete required documentation regarding attendance, health and wellness, sign-in and sign-out, and other items as assigned.
- Notify families if children are not in attendance.
- Keep program areas neat and organized.
- Follow all safety procedures.
- Follow all regulating agency and YMCA child care policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Maintain friendly, positive, and professional relationships with children, families, school & day care partners, and other YMCA staff.
- Project a positive image of the YMCA and the Day Care program.
- Follow work site requirements regarding punctuality, appropriate dress, staff meeting attendance, etc.
- Carry out tasks as assigned by the Site or Program Director.
- Assist in program and YMCA recruitment and special events.
- Work YMCA Camp Days and alternate program locations as scheduled.
