The City of Pittsburg is hiring enthusiastic, responsible, customer-focused Recreation Leader IIs to provide general assistance and support for recreation programs and activities and help ensure participants have a safe, fun experience. Assignments may include Tiny Tots, adaptive recreation, youth and young adult programming, or adult sports; leaders may also cover other assignments as needed. The role is suited to people who enjoy working with youth, serving the community, and working in an active, hands-on environment. High school and college students are encouraged to apply. Prior experience is not necessary, though familiarity with recreation programs is highly desirable. Tiny Tots programming introduces children ages 3–6 to sports and other introductory activities, with a focus on positive engagement for children and their parents or guardians. Adaptive recreation serves adults ages 18 and older with disabilities and offers inclusive sports, fitness, creative, and social activities. Leaders may modify activities, instructions, materials, or equipment to accommodate participants’ abilities and individual needs. Youth and young adult programming includes mentoring, leadership development, workforce readiness, educational workshops, recreation, service projects, and college and career exploration, often in collaboration with families and community partners. Adult sports programming serves participants ages 18 and older and includes leagues, tournaments, clinics, and other activities, with an emphasis on sportsmanship, teamwork, safety, and positive experiences for participants and spectators. The Recreation Department also provides sports, aquatics, senior center, Small World Park, and community center programs and services. Recreation Leader II assignments are based on program needs.
