About The Position

Under direct supervision of the Community Centre Supervisor, works the front desk to provide assistance to Community Centre patrons. Assists with special events; performs related duties as assigned. The nature of the work will require day, evening and/or weekend hours as required.

Requirements

  • High School or GED preferred
  • Six months public contact experience required
  • Ability to communicate with general public and city staff
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Some knowledge of record keeping and general office procedures
  • Ability to maintain customer focus in difficult situations
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards as established by the City of Rowlett
  • Must report all traffic citations to his/her departmental Director or his/her designee within two working days of receipt

Responsibilities

  • Greeting the public
  • Answering the telephone and providing information
  • Distributing and collecting athletic equipment
  • Taking facility reservations and maintaining a schedule log
  • Preparing and maintaining attendance reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for classes, meetings, and drop-in facility use on a computerized system
  • Investigating and resolving citizen complaints concerning classes, instructors, or the facility
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are followed at all times
  • Handling emergencies if they develop
  • Setting up athletic, audio/video equipment and tables/chairs
  • Performing custodial tasks
  • Reporting larger maintenance problems
  • Monitoring grounds and facilities to ensure proper usage is maintained
  • Inputting and retrieving computer data
  • Assuring adequacy of desk supplies and equipment inventory
  • Collecting monies
  • Preparing receipts and cash reports
  • Registering citizens using RecTrac software ensuring necessary paperwork is completed and filed, entering information into a computer system and accepting payments
  • Processing transactions using RecTrac Software including POS transactions, selling memberships, reserving facilities, registering patrons for programs and special events
  • Providing various administrative services by ensuring safety in front lobby, assisting with various marketing tools, maintaining adequate levels of supplies and marketing tools, assisting with special events and providing clerical based services
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • Maintaining regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance
  • Creating and maintaining professional, harmonious working relationships with others
  • Working nights, weekends or special events as needed by the department
