The Recreation Leader I position is an entry level role with no experience required, making it a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys working with people and supporting fun, meaningful programs that bring our community together. Recreation Leader I staff help with a wide variety of activities, including arts and crafts, drama, dance, music, games, sports, and other recreational programs. Work schedules typically include some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Learn more about the available assignments below. K–8 Youth Development Assignment: Provides year-round after-school and seasonal enrichment programs for children in 1st through 8th grade at Mountain View Park, Horizon Park, and various Scottsdale Unified School District campuses. Youth Development staff support these programs through on-site supervision, program planning, and active engagement with participants. Parks and Community Centers Assignment: Supports community facilities that offer recreational activities, social interaction, public information, and city events for individuals of all ages and abilities. Staff help maintain clean, welcoming environments, provide friendly customer service, and ensure consistent on-site supervision to promote safety. Openings in this recruitment are for Horizon Park. McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park Assignment: Supports one of Scottsdale’s most iconic and uniquely themed parks, known for its vintage railroad attractions, historic museum spaces, and immersive family experiences. Staff provide friendly customer service, assist with daily park and program operations, and help maintain clean, welcoming environments. Depending on assignment, staff may supervise the Roundhouse play area, support ride operations, or assist in the museum by engaging guests with the park’s railroad history. This role helps create a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for visitors of all ages. Please note: Assignments are part-time, unclassified, at-will and serve at the discretion of the city and assignments may be temporary or on-going. Part-time positions have limited benefits, as required by law.
