About The Position

This position is responsible for the organization and leadership of a variety of recreation activities including, but not limited to, scheduling activities and Day Camp programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential Functions: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position. Organizes, promotes, teaches and conducts a variety of recreation activities, such as arts and crafts, sports and games, music, dance, drama, nature study, and special events. Assists in organizing, promoting, and directing tournaments, shows, socials exhibits, festivals, and special events. Supervises an assigned functional area of the center, such as gymnasium, athletic field, game room, crafts room, etc. Coordinates and assists in conducting organizational and county-wide events. Plans a variety of activities catering to different age groups and varying degrees of participant skills. Additional Duties: Employees in this classification may be expected to perform any related duties as required by proper authority.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Georgia drivers' license.
  • Ability to lead group games and activities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and other staff members.
  • Ability to maintain records and create reports.
  • Ability to supervise and develop subordinate and volunteer work.
  • Ability to present ideas and recommendations clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan creative, appropriate activities for all ages.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, parents and children.
  • Ability to run and walk.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects including sports equipment.
  • Knowledge of principles, techniques, methods, supplies and equipment applicable to recreational activities and Day Camp programs.
  • Knowledge of good public relations practices and principles.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience working with children of all ages.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred; six months of related experience.
