About The Position

HELP USA is seeking a Recreation Aide to work with adults living in one of its temporary housing facilities. The Recreation Aide develops and implements recreational programming that meets participants’ needs and fosters positive socialization, empowerment, and physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being. The role also ensures access to suitable recreation services for residents with special needs, encourages participation, builds community resource connections, maintains a safe environment, and develops a recreation department budget.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience and skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
• Creativity, responsibility, patience, kindness, and caring.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a recreational program appropriate for all age groups that fosters positive socialization and empowerment, as well as participants’ physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
• Ensure appropriate recreational services are available for residents with special needs, through the existing curriculum or service linkages.
• Encourage full participation by residents to enhance socialization in the shelter and maximize use of recreational services.
• Conduct community outreach to secure service linkages, in-kind donations, and other community resources for residents and the program.
• Develop a guide to free and inexpensive recreational resources in the area.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment for participants in recreational activities.
• Develop a recreation department budget covering basic operational needs, new needs, and wish-list items.
