About The Position

The Arc of the Ozarks is seeking enthusiastic and caring individuals to join their team as a Saturday Recreation Assistant. This part-time position is ideal for college students or anyone looking to make a difference while maintaining a weekday schedule. The role involves helping children and adults with developmental disabilities enjoy a fun, safe, and engaging Saturday experience through various activities like field trips, swimming, arts and crafts, games, and cooking. The goal is to help participants build independence, engage with peers, and enjoy meaningful community experiences.

Requirements

A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
The ability to work respectfully with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Good judgment, dependability, and punctuality.
The ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including walking, lifting, carrying, and running as needed.
A minimum age of 18 and a high school diploma or equivalent.
The ability to obtain a Class E chauffeur's license and maintain the required minimum liability insurance.
Must be available to complete ALL required training before beginning the regular Saturday schedule: One full week: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM and One additional Monday: 9:00 AM–4:00 PM.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.

Responsibilities

Supervising and supporting participants during recreational activities, swimming, and field trips.
Assisting with daily activities, including games, arts and crafts, and group activities.
Providing personal care assistance, including toileting and diaper changes when needed.
Assisting with meals and cleaning up activity areas.
Maintaining a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all participants.
Completing daily activity documentation and reporting any unusual behaviors, health concerns, or incidents to the supervisor.
