The Recovery Counselor is a para-professional treatment team member responsible for providing direct care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of clients through direct and indirect physical and verbal interaction. This role ensures all safety regulations are followed and facilities are maintained in a safe and clean manner, assisting with client laundry, household cleaning, and other tasks. The position involves driving clients in a company vehicle and providing a high level of customer service by maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for all clients, visitors, staff, and physicians. This includes modeling appropriate behaviors, monitoring daily client activities, screening incoming clients/visitors for contraband, inventorying client property, monitoring surveillance equipment, controlling access to the center, answering/directing incoming clients, conducting physical security checks, and responding to emergencies. Duties are performed under direct supervision of the Program Director or designee, with some tasks accomplished independently. The program consists of 16-bed facilities designed for adults with mental health challenges or a recent crisis who need intensive treatment. These 24/7 programs serve as an alternative to urgent care or hospitalization, allowing individuals to live on-site in a homelike setting for a short term while receiving counseling and learning basic living and interpersonal skills. Clients can receive physical and psychological evaluation, mental health, and case management services, in addition to assistance locating permanent housing.
