About The Position

The City of Hampton is seeking a Records Team Lead to supervise personnel assigned to the Central Records Unit and monitor personnel performance. This candidate will supervise other specialized duties in the operation of the City of Hampton's Central Records Unit. Performs duties under the general supervision of the Central Records Supervisor or designee.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or successful completion of the GED
  • Two years of experience working in a law enforcement environment preferred
  • Two years of supervisory experience is preferred
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered
  • Must possess or be able to attain a VCIN Level A
  • Successfully complete a General Instructor’s Certification, when available
  • Equivalent instructor training or certifications will be considered
  • Knowledge/experience administering databases or local area networks is preferred
  • Knowledge of effective supervisory principles and practices is preferred
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of personal and network-based computers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, supervision, and citizens
  • Ability to give clear, concise feedback
  • Ability to develop and maintain harmonious working relationships
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make appropriate decisions in emergency situations
  • Ability to foster effective public relations and work effectively with diverse groups
  • Must successfully pass a police background investigation to include a polygraph examination prior to any offer of employment or promotion
