About The Position

The Records Information Management Administrator plans, oversees, and coordinates the City-wide records management program, including records division staff and records center operations; managing electronic imaging and the secure disposition of records in accordance with State law; promoting Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles (GARP) for the creation, maintenance, storage, and disposition of City records in all formats; ensuring compliance with Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) requirements; developing procedures for preserving essential, vital, historical, and permanent records; providing guidance to City departments regarding paper and electronic records management; overseeing the development, approval, and maintenance of records retention and disposition schedules; supervising the destruction of records; serving as liaison to TSLAC; coordinating with Emergency Management on the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP); developing bid specifications and evaluating bids; and assisting with departmental budget preparation and administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in history, political science, library science, information services, archives, or a related field.
  • Three years of professional management experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Project management skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Must begin a certification program leading to either Certified Records Manager (CRM) or Information Governance Professional (IGP) certification within a timeframe established by the City, after completing two years of employment with the City.
