About The Position

The Recording Engineer Supervisor supervises recording engineers, recording assistants, and dubbing production coordinators. This role involves collecting and negotiating costs for local projects, issuing purchase orders, and approving invoices. The supervisor performs project cost analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities and improve direct margins. They review production schedules, estimate work hours, and adjust work procedures to meet deadlines. This position requires coordinating resources, including directors, talent, engineers, rooms, and third-party resources, to execute schedule needs. Key milestones are tracked for smooth production, and any changes are communicated to Client Operations. The supervisor revises schedules based on client requests, production needs, priorities, and resource availability. They recommend improvements for production methods, equipment performance, and product quality. Additionally, they track and organize production elements like scripts and approvals, ensure assignment of rights agreements are executed, and verify special production instructions are followed. The role involves analyzing and resolving work problems, conferring with related departments to monitor progress and communicate changes impacting efficiency or quality, performing general administrative duties, and other related tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises recording engineers, recording assistants, and dubbing production coordinators.
  • Collects and negotiates costs for local projects, issues POs, and approves invoices.
  • Performs project cost analysis and determines ways to lower cost and/or improve direct margin.
  • Reviews production schedule and estimates work hours needed for completion of job assignments.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Communicates and executes schedule needs by coordinating resources accordingly, including directors, talent, engineers, rooms, and third-party resources.
  • Tracks key milestones to ensure smooth production and communicates any changes to Client Operations.
  • Revises schedule according to client requests, production needs, established priorities, and availability or capability of staff or equipment.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Tracks and organizes production elements such as scripts and approvals.
  • Ensures assignment of rights agreements are executed by all creative resources for all local projects.
  • Verifies special production instructions have been followed by all parties.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists others in solving work problems.
  • Confers with related departments to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes that might impact efficiency and/or the quality of production.
  • Performs general administration duties as needed.
