This position is an important contributor to the creation and publication of an electronic record for all patient types. The role is responsible for accurate and timely record processing, which includes loose report filing and imaging, picking up discharge records, updating old records, prepping inpatient, ER, and outpatient records, and filing charts in alphabetical and terminal digit order. The specialist examines pages and verifies patient identification on each page, and appropriately batches and scans inpatient, ER, and outpatient records, performing QC/Validation as assigned. They are also expected to assist customers when needed and maintain scanning equipment in good working order. The role requires the ability to speak and read English at a sufficient level to perform essential functions, knowledge of standard office equipment (calculator, fax, photocopier), and personal computer and software skills (MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Proficient Windows computer skills, including keyboarding, mouse usage for selecting items, drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, and copying, are required upon employment or within the first two weeks. The individual will also perform other assigned duties, follow Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards, and carry out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.
