About The Position

Be the first friendly face or voice for pets and the people who love them! The Connecticut Humane Society (CHS) in Wilton, Connecticut, is looking for two enthusiastic, compassionate Receptionists to join our team! This is more than a traditional reception position. You’ll play an important role in supporting our Public Clinic and Shelter, while creating a welcoming, positive experience for every person—and pet—who call or walk through our doors. As the first person our clients and their pets encounter, you’ll help set the tone for their entire experience with CHS. Whether you’re welcoming a new veterinary client, helping a family navigate a pet surrender, or supporting someone who has just adopted a new companion, your kindness and professionalism can make a meaningful difference. Requirements

  • Previous reception or customer service experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • The ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
  • A positive, proactive, and creative approach to problem-solving
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and navigate multiple software systems
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Compassion and professionalism when working with clients experiencing difficult or emotional situations

Nice To Haves

  • Veterinary reception experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming clients and their pets with professionalism, warmth, and compassion
  • Checking clients in and out for veterinary appointments and shelter services
  • Assisting clients with pet surrenders
  • Scheduling appointments for clinic and shelter services
  • Answering phones and responding to emails, texts, and other client communications
  • Obtaining medical records by communicating with veterinary clinics, rescues, and other organizations
  • Entering and maintaining accurate information in multiple computer systems
  • Processing payments and other monetary transactions
  • Providing basic education and guidance regarding medications, after-care instructions, pet surrender, and post-adoption expectations
  • Working closely with veterinary, shelter, and other CHS team members to ensure excellent service and continuity of care
  • Helping create a calm, supportive environment during what can sometimes be an emotional experience for clients
