About The Position

This role is responsible for greeting patients, managing patient information, handling telephone communications, and processing payments in a Diagnostic Radiology department. The position requires excellent customer service skills, adherence to HIPAA regulations, and the ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Successful passage of basic Medical Terminology course OR successful passage of the CCH Medical Terminology exam.
  • Minimum six (6) months experience in patient registration, admitting, nurse's aide, medical secretary, medical receptionist, or similar position.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and obtain demographic and insurance information, registering them into the system.
  • Answer telephone calls professionally and courteously, directing calls and taking messages.
  • Obtain legally acceptable general consents to bill third parties.
  • Answer routine questions regarding departmental policies, operations, and procedures.
  • Verify and accurately enter radiology orders into the radiology information system.
  • Register patients using the electronic registration system, scanning identification, licenses, and necessary forms.
  • Verify patient appointments, provide necessary forms, and direct/escort patients to examination areas or notify appropriate areas of patient arrival.
  • Copy and provide radiology record information to outside facilities and physicians, including discs with images.
  • Maintain harmonious and cooperative relations with colleagues, medical staff, patients, and guests.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and center matters in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Accept and process patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and balances due, and provide receipts.
  • Verify benefits using the insurance verification system and confirm authorizations/referrals, entering them into the insurance authorization field.
  • Consistently provide service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned or requested.
