Receivership Accountant

About The Position

Trigild is seeking an accountant that will be responsible primarily for reviewing financial reporting produced by third party management companies for a group of properties in receivership. A few self-managed receiverships may require full reporting which would include financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and expense reconciliations.

Requirements

  • Communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Well-organized; self-starter, able to handle multiple priorities
  • 4+ years of commercial real estate accounting experience with multiple property types preferred
  • Knowledge of GAAP (specifically, real estate)
  • Understanding of property management in relation to financial accounting, recoveries, budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience with Yardi desired
  • Proficiency in PC-based software such as Microsoft Excel

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review third party management reporting including: comparing provided reports to reports required by court order; confirm reports are correct property, period, and basis; confirm bank reconciliations; confirm balance sheet support schedules; confirm net income ties to retained earnings and rolls forward correctly from prior month reporting.
  • Responsible for the general ledgers for self-managed properties assigned, including monthly journal entries and bank reconciliations.
  • Understanding of accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), cash receipts and lease administration functions of commercial real estate and how they drive the financial results of assigned project.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages on the assigned portfolio of properties for self-managed properties. The packages include analyses and support schedules of all balance sheet accounts and explanations of significant variances in income statement accounts.
  • Prepare annual expense reconciliation schedules and billings to tenants with Property Managers as needed for self-managed properties.
  • Prepare detailed interim and year-end working papers and support schedules requested by internal and external auditors as needed.
  • Assist with audits in terms of research, analysis, documentation and response.
  • Assist with property set up and payment of initial emergency expenses for receiverships.
  • Review third party manager funding requests as needed.
  • Handle special projects, assigned.
