About The Position

Havenwyck Hospital, a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, is seeking PRN Therapists specializing in Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, and Art Therapy. The hospital, located in Auburn Hills, Michigan, focuses on providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults. The ultimate goal is to build strength, confidence, and knowledge within each patient, enabling them to understand their needs and practice self-care throughout their lives. The available positions are PRN with specific shift options: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am - 6:30 pm, or Sunday through Thursday, 10 am - 6:30 pm.

Requirements

  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
  • Bachelor Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an approved program required.
  • Certification by National Certification Board (NCTRC) required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree/Certification in Music Therapy required.
  • Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) required.
  • Master’s Degree in Theories of Art Therapy, Counseling, or Psychotherapy from an institute identified by the American Art Therapy Association required.
  • The individual must be eligible to take the National Art Therapy Registration (ATR) examination and obtain the registration within 2 years of the hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a behavioral health hospital setting preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a psychiatric setting preferred.
  • Doctorate’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in psychiatric setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of Recreational Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions, and discharge leisure planning.
  • Utilizing individual and/or group activity interventions to bring about positive changes in the client's cognitive, social, emotional, or physical behavior.
  • Educating the client in healthy coping skills and available leisure resources for post-discharge planning and involvement.
  • Evaluating each client's progress and the effectiveness of therapy treatment, recording results daily.
  • Attending treatment team conferences to exchange information and observations with other team members.
  • Assisting with the completion of the initial treatment plan and progress summary updates.
  • Provision of services according to current standards of practice.
  • Provision of Music Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions, and discharge planning.
  • Utilizing individual and/or group interventions to bring about positive changes in the patient’s behavior (cognitive, social, emotional, or physical).
  • Educating the patient in healthy coping skills and available resources for post-discharge planning and involvement.
  • Provision of Art Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions, and discharge planning.
  • Utilizing individual and/or group interventions to bring about positive changes in the patient’s behavior (cognitive, social, emotional, or physical).
  • Educating the patient in healthy coping skills and available resources for post-discharge planning and involvement.
