About The Position

This position works within the Public Works Department. Kern County employees provide opportunities that are purposeful to our community. Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense. This examination will establish an eligible list from which an immediate appointment will be made at the Public Works Department. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission. Requirements

  • Possession of valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License.
  • Level I: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Communications, Economics, Law, Public Administration, Real Estate, or closely related field, OR High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent AND 60 semester or 90 quarter units of college AND 2 years experience transacting real estate or providing property management for commercial real estate interests or lease administration, OR Four years experience as a realtor or property manager for commercial real estate interests.
  • Level II: Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Communications, Economics, Law, Public Administration, Real Estate, or closely related field and one (1) year's experience as a Real Property Agent I with the County of Kern, or equivalent position with another governmental entity OR High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent and have completed 60 semester or 90 quarter units if college and three (3) years experience transacting real estate or providing property management for commercial real estate interests, or lease administration.
  • Level III: Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Communications, Economics, Law, Public Administration, Real Estate, or closely related field and two (2) years experience as a Real Property Agent II with the County of Kern, or equivalent position with another governmental entity OR High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent and have completed 60 semester or 90 quarter units of college and four (4) years experience transacting real estate or providing property management for commercial unit real estate interests. Two (2) of the four (4) years of experience must be equivalent to a Real Property Agent II in the Kern County system.
  • Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
  • Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification.
  • A background check may be conducted for this classification.
