About The Position

Responsible for all aspects of design from beginning to end. Produce high-quality drawings and directives for consultants to complete Construction Documents. Negotiate with cities, developers, and landlords communicate with management teams, research and understand building codes as well as store operations. Manage projects from initial design through construction and opening. Use Photoshop and AutoCAD to create supplemental drawings. Work with cities, developers, legal team, jurisdictions, and consultants.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree in the field of architecture, engineering, or construction, or high school diploma and 4-5 years of experience with architectural design or construction, related to commercial design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work from a prototype.
  • Ability to multitask, critically think, negotiate, and coordinate.

Nice To Haves

  • BS in graphic design, architecture, architectural design, construction management or other building trades related discipline from an accredited university with subsequent continuing education courses.
  • 3 years’ experience with an architectural design firm.
  • Previous experience with commercial retail design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills necessary.
  • Photoshop knowledge desired.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate with cities, developers, and landlords to get the best design for the company.
  • Make high-level design and operations decisions based on company standards and own judgment.
  • Review land surveys in conjunction with designing project preliminary site plans.
  • Management of the company plan room in all aspects of the project.
  • Produce construction documents for company construction projects through sheet preparation and layout ensuring that all working drawings are prepared in accordance with applicable national and local codes through code research and general knowledge.
  • Review plans of each construction document before and after completion.
  • Review Project As-Built packages and determine site feasibility for building additions.
  • Coordinate and communicate with outside consultants and other development personnel.
  • Contact city officials for permit requirements on new or building addition projects.
  • Use Photoshop to produce design concept studies, paint schemes, and documents for cities’ or developers’ approval.
  • Work with O’Reilly operations, SAC, and Expansion Committee teams to best adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Provide the Project Manager and Project Administrator timely cost-effective solutions with all Design related field issues.
