About The Position

The Real Estate Management Specialist I is the entry-level professional position within the Real Estate Management Division (REMD). This role performs foundational land management, inspection, appraisal support, and conservation duties under close supervision and structured training. The Specialist assists with inspecting and evaluating trust lands, monitoring lease compliance, supporting appraisal activities, and participating in conservation and environmental stewardship initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Finance, Natural Resources, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in land management, agriculture, soil conservation, farm or ranch operations, agricultural lending, appraisal support, or a related field.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future;
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check;
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license from a U.S. state or territory to perform necessary job-related travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or practical experience in agricultural land management, conservation, or appraisal support.
  • Familiarity with Oklahoma agricultural practices, soil types, or grazing management.
  • Exposure to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or mapping tools.
  • Progress toward appraisal trainee licensure or interest in obtaining licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in structured on-the-job training to develop core competencies in land inspection, appraisal support, conservation planning, and lease compliance.
  • Shadow senior specialists during field inspections and receive ongoing mentorship.
  • Assist with inspections of trust lands to evaluate compliance with lease terms, Commission rules, agency policies, and applicable state laws.
  • Document field observations and prepare draft inspection reports for supervisory review.
  • Observe and document tillage practices, grazing ratios, soil and water conservation methods, and environmental conditions.
  • Assist in identifying potential erosion, land degradation, or compliance concerns.
  • Support appraisal activities by collecting field data, photographing properties, researching comparable land sales, and preparing draft documentation in accordance with established standards.
  • Assist in identifying land impacted by oil, gas, or other environmental disturbances affecting trust lands.
  • Support conservation or remediation planning efforts under guidance of senior staff.
  • Utilize GIS tools, mapping software, and aerial imagery to support land inspections, soil evaluation, grazing analysis, and conservation planning.
  • Maintain accurate records and field data entries.
  • Communicate professionally with lessees, agricultural operators, and internal staff.
  • Refer complex or sensitive matters to supervisors as appropriate.
  • Maintain organized records of inspections, appraisals, compliance activities, and conservation initiatives.
  • Prepare draft correspondence and reports for review and approval.
