About The Position

This role serves as the primary point of contact for real estate and mortgage loan inquiries, responsible for completing credit applications and managing appraisal orders. The specialist will maintain up-to-date knowledge of lending policies, gather necessary information for applications, and direct members to appropriate resources. Additionally, the role involves setting up loan files, assisting with processing tasks, ordering appraisals, and acting as a liaison between appraisers and origination staff, ensuring compliance with regulations. The position also requires tracking appraisal status, communicating with appraisers, verifying loan information, and cross-selling credit union services.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Six months prior experience in a service related position with this credit union with direct member contact preferred.
  • One year similar experience in a service related field is acceptable.
  • Must have a pleasant telephone voice.
  • Demonstrate a mastery of English speaking and comprehension skills.
  • Utilize sound listening skills.
  • Communicate clearly.
  • Familiarity with on-line data operations.
  • Basic typing and 10-key touch calculator skills require.
  • Ability to perform multiple functions simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months’ tenure in the RE Loan Center Specialist I position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations (for RE Loan Center Specialist II).
  • One year tenure in the RE Loan Center Specialist II position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations (for RE Loan Center Specialist III).
  • Directly related work experience and/or accelerated training completion may be substituted for tenure.

Responsibilities

  • Answer real estate and mortgage loan related telephone inquiries.
  • Complete credit applications for real estate loans.
  • Process appraisal orders.
  • Maintain current in-depth knowledge of real estate and mortgage lending policies and guidelines.
  • Obtain the information necessary to complete credit applications and related documentation.
  • Direct members to appropriate individuals and schedule appointments for originators as necessary.
  • Set up real estate applications files and input into the mortgage loan origination system.
  • Assist with loan processing and posting tasks when directed by management.
  • Order appraisal reports using the Appraisal Ordering System (AOS) to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations regarding appraiser independence.
  • Act as communication center between appraisers and origination staff.
  • Make certain that all information provided is acceptable, and not in conflict with any regulation regarding appraiser independence.
  • Track appraisal status and information within the Appraisal Ordering System to ensure current data is available to originations.
  • Maintain communication with appraisers regarding progress and expectations.
  • Follow up with the appraisers as necessary to confirm delivery dates and provide additional documentation as needed.
  • Confirm and verify Loan in Process accounts in the Symitar system for appraisal billing.
  • Cross-sell credit union services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
