Working directly with Managing Partners and Managing Directors, the Real Estate Consultant assists Northwestern Mutual Field Offices in developing and executing comprehensive real estate strategies that balance growth with financial and operational considerations. The role evaluates office options by assessing space requirements, transaction costs, effects on office financials, and layouts suited to operational needs. It partners with internal and external stakeholders to recommend courses of action, negotiate transactions with landlords, and coordinate consultants. The position requires strong listening, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, as well as the ability to build trust and manage multiple projects independently. The consultant assesses office needs and develops plans across growth scenarios; evaluates locations, space needs, and market alternatives; and analyzes financial capacity, leverage, and cash flow to support agency profitability. The role prepares analyses and due diligence memorandums for senior leadership approval, explains complex financial and real estate concepts, assists with letters of intent and lease documents, and supports efficient, cost-effective office layouts. Site visits and coordination with third parties are also part of completing transactions. This is a hybrid role with three days in the office.
