About The Position

The Ready Mix Diesel Mechanic inspects, services, diagnoses, and repairs trucks and related equipment. The role performs preventive maintenance and light electrical and mechanical work, records services and repairs, and uses shop tools and welding equipment as needed. The mechanic is expected to meet tight timelines, follow safety policies, wear appropriate PPE, and help maintain a clean work environment inside and outside the shop.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Welding experience required.
• Must possess a wide variety of tools.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and to climb, bend, stoop, and walk.
• Previous truck mechanic experience required.
• Class A or B CDL required, or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical and light electrical inspections.
• Record services and repairs accurately for vehicle records.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including work on brakes, fluids, and lighting systems.
• Read job orders and listen to trucks in operation to identify malfunctions and plan work procedures.
• Diagnose, repair, or replace failed or malfunctioning equipment components, including transmissions, engines, drain lines, rear axles, gearboxes, springs, drive lines, operators' compartments, fixed ladders, walkways, and other mechanical parts.
• Troubleshoot and repair light mechanical problems relating to equipment brake systems.
• Service equipment, including greasing trucks and related equipment and changing oils and fluids.
• Use welding and cutting equipment to repair components.
• Wear appropriate PPE for assigned tasks.
• Maintain and help maintain a clean work atmosphere inside and outside the shop.
• Communicate, improve, and adhere to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
