About The Position
The Benton Middle School Reading Paraprofessional will implement instructional activities with students as directed by the teacher and/or building principal. This role involves assisting in the preparation of lesson plans, instructional materials, and data collection. The paraprofessional will assume responsibility for being prepared to perform instructional duties as prescribed by the teacher, implement behavior management techniques, and treat all students with dignity and respect. Additional duties include assisting with the physical management of students (lifting may be required), maintaining the classroom, and assisting with various duties such as lunchroom, recess, and bus supervision. Participation in training, staffing, and faculty meetings is expected, along with adherence to confidentiality policies for students under IDEA and Benton School Board Policies. The role also includes performing other duties as assigned by administration.
Requirements
- Associates Degree or 60 college hours or passed the Praxis ParaPro test
Responsibilities
- Implement instructional activities with students as directed by the teacher and/or building principal.
- Assist in the preparation of lesson plans, instructional materials, and data collection.
- Assume responsibility for being prepared to perform instructional duties as prescribed by the teacher.
- Implement behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher/supervisor.
- Treat all students with dignity and respect.
- Assist with the physical management of students, including potential lifting.
- Assist with the maintenance of the classroom.
- Assist with duties including but not limited to lunchroom, recess, and bus supervision.
- Participate in training, staffing, and faculty meetings as directed by the building principal and Administration.
- Adhere to confidentiality policies and practices for students under IDEA as outlined by the teacher.
- Follow Benton School Board Policy and/or practice.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration, building principal, and/or the supervising teacher.
