Math Teachers are responsible for executing the mission by ensuring that all students improve academically and demonstrate core values. They provide high-quality, data-driven instruction and instructional support to all learners. Teachers collaborate with colleagues, including special education teachers, to ensure all students receive the necessary accommodations and modifications to master standards. This role involves utilizing daily speaking, writing, interacting, reading, and listening to support students’ language acquisition and help all students advance at least one level on TELPAS. Teachers implement state learning standards and Etoile Academy Charter School curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations. For Math, they utilize (with fidelity) scripted curriculum including daily lessons, exit tickets, homework, mid-module assessments, and end-of-unit assessments. Teachers learn, master, and deliver content and grade-level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts, submitting weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback. They implement formal and informal assessments to track individual student progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly, and update the gradebook weekly. Communication of students’ progress with students and families occurs on a weekly basis. Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work-related tasks are expected. Teachers implement a clear and consistent behavior management system and build a strong sense of community in the classroom. They help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student. Establishing and maintaining a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities in which they identify is crucial. Hosting necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs and regularly pulling small groups to close academic gaps are part of the role. Participation in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions is required. Engaging in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development is also expected. A minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week is required, with additional responsibilities potentially including after-school tutoring or Saturday school based on student needs.
