About The Position

This is a full-time, grant-funded position at Shawnee Elementary, following the teacher calendar. The Reading Interventionist will work collaboratively with the building administrator to support the implementation of evidence-based literacy instruction. This role involves coaching and mentoring teachers, modeling instructional strategies, and assisting teachers in interpreting assessments and analyzing data for differentiated instruction and progress monitoring. The position also oversees the MTSS framework and ensures fidelity in the implementation of core reading curriculum and intervention programs. The Reading Interventionist will act as a liaison for literacy curriculum, assessment, and instruction, attend professional development, and provide training to staff. Collaboration with district leadership is also a key component of this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required with valid current State of Michigan teaching certificate
  • Problem Solving Skills, required
  • Good oral and written communication skills, required
  • Strong interpersonal skills, required

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in reading and language arts preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of successful teaching experience (preferred)
  • Participation in the School Improvement process/MTSS process preferred
  • Advanced Training in the Science of Reading (e.g.: Top Ten Tools, LETRS)
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Science of Reading and best practices of reading instruction
  • Solid understanding of benchmark and progress monitoring assessments, reports, and data utilization
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and collaborative teams
  • Skillful in the use of Schoology, Teams, and any other instructional technology application preferred

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with building administrator to support implementation of evidence-based literacy instruction and helps teachers apply what they learned through required literacy professional learning.
  • Models evidence-based instructional strategies, coaches and mentors teachers.
  • Helps teachers interpret required assessments with fidelity.
  • Trains staff to analyze data and use it to differentiate instruction and supports progress monitoring.
  • Oversees the MTSS framework to ensure fidelity of implementation within the school building.
  • Works with teachers to ensure that evidence-based core reading curriculum and intervention programs are implemented with fidelity.
  • Serves as a communication and resource liaison in literacy curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
  • Attends professional development and provides relevant training and sharing of information with building administrator, teachers, and support staff.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director of Innovation and Learning and the Educational Services Department for district planning and implementation of MTSS, school improvement, reading instruction, interventions, and assessments.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Innovation and Learning.
