About The Position

The Razorback Analytics Fellowship provides University of Arkansas students with hands-on, part-time experience in applied data analytics through real-world projects that support University operations. Fellows partner with campus stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into analytics solutions, including interactive dashboards and reports built in Power BI and related tools. They analyze and transform data to support operational and strategic decision-making, and communicate findings through presentations, visualizations, and written summaries. Fellows also contribute to project teams, manage assigned tasks collaboratively, and apply best practices in data quality, documentation, and reporting. The Fellowship is designed to prepare students for careers in data analytics through practical experience, mentorship, and exposure to complex organizational data challenges.

Requirements

  • Current UA junior or senior student enrolled in an analytics-related degree program, such as Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a similar field, with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Proficient with concepts covered in Calculus I and introductory statistics coursework
  • Familiarity with data analysis concepts and techniques such as data representation, retrieval, manipulation, storage, and governance
  • Foundational experience with at least one programming language (Python, R, SQL, etc.)
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in data analytics or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of at least one programming focused course with a grade of B or higher, such as DASC 10201, DASC 12004, DASC 16003, CSCE 20004, CSCE 20104, or a similar course
  • Completion of at least one analytics focused course with a grade of B or higher, such as DASC 22103, DASC 22003, ISYS 20303, ISYS 31903, or a similar course
  • Proficient with concepts covered in Calculus II and/or advanced statistics coursework
  • Intermediate experience with one or more programming languages
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Python/R packages, Tableau, Power BI, or similar
