About The Position

The Raw Material Engineering Intern will support the Corning Environmental Technologies Raw Material Engineering team in advancing raw material qualification, supply assurance, and cost reduction across a global manufacturing network. This role provides hands-on exposure to the technical aspects of raw material management and offers practical experience in materials engineering, manufacturing support, and data analysis. The intern will contribute to projects that improve raw material performance, strengthen supply chain resilience, support supplier qualification activities, and identify cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining product quality and manufacturing performance.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

  • Assist engineers with material qualification studies and experimental plans

  • Work safely and comply with all applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements
