About The Position

The Wild Animal Horse Refuge is seeking a Ranch Hand to assist with maintenance, fencing, field and hay work. This is a full-time, mid-level position with a salary range of $58,000 - $65,000. The organization is a non-profit with a positive mission and team environment, dedicated to rescuing and providing ample space for wild mustangs on over 30,000 acres in Craig, Colorado. The role involves significant animal care operations, including feeding and general maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for contributing to a great cause. This position requires a valid driver's license, the ability to lift 75lbs or more, and the capacity to work effectively as part of a team. Heavy Equipment Knowledge/Experience (road grader, tractors, skid loader, hay equipment)
Electrical-Plumbing-Construction Knowledge

Responsibilities

Perform ranch hand laborer duties including maintenance (electrical, plumbing, construction knowledge), fencing, field and hay work.
70% of the role involves feeding and animal care operations.
Utilize heavy equipment such as road graders, tractors, skid loaders, and hay equipment.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
Execute day-to-day functions regarding herds/horses, feeding, water haul, food haul, diet and nutrition.
Drive around property with supplies.
Perform all duties in a safe manner while following company protocol.
Handle custodial duties, sustainability efforts, and long-term equipment care.
Conduct field and hay work.
Perform electrical and plumbing tasks.
Assist with building gates/pens.
Be available to drive around and place eyes on herds.
Be available for scheduled tours.
Clean the rental house after visitors.
Routinely take pictures on property.
Provide security on property while communicating regularly with the direct supervisor.
