About The Position

This position will be on site at our facility located near Cottonwood, ID. We are seeking a reliable, hardworking Ranch Hand to support the daily operations of our ranch. This role involves hands-on “cowboy work” and is ideal for individuals—or a husband-and-wife team—who enjoy working outdoors, are experienced with cattle, and take pride in maintaining land, livestock, and equipment. This position offers the opportunity for long-term growth, with potential to transition into a Ranch Manager role based on performance and leadership capability.

Requirements

  • Previous ranching, farming, or cattle experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions
  • Working knowledge of livestock handling and basic animal health practices
  • Experience operating ranch equipment and performing basic mechanical tasks is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Candidates must provide their own horse(s); however, the ranch will provide boarding accommodations and cover routine upkeep costs for the horses
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care for livestock, with a primary focus on cattle, including feeding, watering, and monitoring overall health
  • Perform routine cattle work such as gathering, moving, sorting, branding, and medicating livestock
  • Assist with herd management activities, including seasonal work such as calving
  • Maintain and repair fences, gates, corrals, barns, and other ranch infrastructure
  • Operate ranch vehicles and equipment (e.g., trucks, tractors, ATVs) safely and efficiently
  • Observe and report signs of injury, illness, or distress in livestock
  • Perform general ranch upkeep, including grounds maintenance, facility repairs, and cleaning as needed
  • Follow all ranch safety protocols and operational procedures
