About The Position

Coordinates the tasking and instruction of on-site staff to ensure timely completion of daily asset release; including, but not limited to: contracted preventative maintenance and scheduled services, repair of refrigeration and satellite-communication equipment, resource and supply availability, parts and labor billing. Promotes and maintains a safe and healthy work environment adhering to both company and OSHA established standards. Enhances the organizations reputation by accepting responsibility for, and taking pride in the accomplishment of valuable, customer-focused work. Working under the supervision and guidance of the Rail and Mobile Service Operations Manager and Contract Services Manager, performs a variety of site-specific administrative, technical, and leadership functions; including, but not limited to:

Requirements

  • Two years of mechanical experience in transport refrigeration preferred.
  • Coordinate manpower, tools, resources and equipment to meet deadlines in a constantly changing, fast paced environment.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills, problem solving abilities, tact, and sound judgment when assigning and completing tasks in an efficient, correct, and productive manner.
  • Proficient technical knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, methods, and tools to perform the work.
  • Time management, active listening, oral/written comprehension, high attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word and Windows based software programs.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, subordinates, and management to deliver cost-effective, value-added customer service
  • Plan, assess, prioritize, and assign daily operational; activities at the on-site level
  • Maintain focus on contract service goals and standards, while coaching and challenging personnel to meet and exceed established departmental objectives
  • Facilitates the training of contract service personnel with regard to equipment, software, daily operations, safety, and regular procedures
  • Monitors inventory levels and alerts parts suppliers to low levels
  • Is knowledgeable, and leads by example regarding safety, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), adherence to federal and company-established safety practices, and holds staff accountable
  • On-call availability or back-up as required by management
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned by management
  • Works with the Omaha Manager to support shop needs and coordinate additional support at the rail site. Monitors inventory and works with the parts department to ensure timely ordering of parts for emergency repairs.
