About The Position

Applies specialized radiologic knowledge and technical skills while performing image-guided interventional radiology procedures. Provides imaging and scrubbing support, monitors patient clinical status, and communicates changes to the Interventional Radiology care team. Performs duties during regular work hours and participates in on-call coverage for emergent procedures.

Requirements

High School Diploma / GED Required
1 year Diagnostic radiology experience desired and demonstrated acceptable knowledge level of all diagnostic radiology procedures.
Meets requirements for ARRT registry, including passage of ARRT(R) within 12 months of employment.
Registered Technologist - ARRT
Passage of ARRT(R) is required within 12 months of employment to maintain position.
Licensed Radiology Technologist (LRT) - KSBHA
Must have current Kansas license within 60 days of hire, or within 60 days of obtaining ARRT registry.
Basic Life Support BLS required within 90 days of hire date.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support ACLS within 90 days of hire date.
Must be able to transport patients by pushing a cart, wheelchair, or bed.
Must be able to stand wearing a lead apron during long procedures.
Must be able to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes for on-call and emergency procedures.

Nice To Haves

Previous invasive procedure experience (ie Cath Lab, IR, EP Lab) desired.

Responsibilities

Performs imaging and scrubbing duties for interventional radiology procedures, including vascular access, biopsies, drain placements, embolization procedures, venous interventions, and diagnostic angiography as applicable to IR.
Operates fluoroscopy and imaging equipment specific to IR procedural suites.
Prepares procedure rooms, procedural trays, equipment, and supplies specific to IR workflows.
Maintains sterile technique, including patient prepping and draping.
Monitors patient clinical status during procedures and communicates changes to the IR team.
Applies appropriate imaging techniques tailored to patient anatomy and procedural requirements, optimizing image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
Accurately documents procedural imaging and technologist responsibilities in the medical record.
Participates in IR on-call rotation for emergent and time-sensitive procedures.
Provides age-appropriate care to school-aged through gerontological patients.
Participates in departmental data collection, quality improvement, and performance improvement initiatives.
Adheres to all departmental and organizational policies, including radiation safety and infection control standards.
Maintains clean and orderly procedure rooms and work areas.
Documents patient or device-related complications according to policy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health.
