About The Position

Under the direction of a Physician, the Radiology Technician performs radiographic examinations. The role assesses patients, assists the Physician with fluoroscopic procedures, prepares films for interpretation, and maintains patient and departmental records, supplies, and equipment. The technician follows established protocols for radiographic exams and supports safe, reliable operation of imaging systems.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Imaging Program.
ARRT certification or registry eligibility; must obtain ARRT within one year after graduation.
AHA BLS certification.
State license if required.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree.
1–3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and assist the Physician in performing fluoroscopic procedures.
Prepare films for interpretation and maintain patient and departmental records, supplies, and equipment.
Verify Physician orders.
Warm the x-ray machine according to standard protocols, check for malfunctions, and notify the supervisor of any issues.
Use proper exposure factors and perform radiographic examinations according to established protocols.
Process radiographs.
Respect patient privacy by keeping the x-ray door closed except when moving a patient into or out of the room.
Establish, follow, and maintain a workflow program.
Establish and enforce a system component maintenance schedule for cleaning and service.
Troubleshoot system errors as they arise.
Respond to end-user questions and service requests in a timely and efficient manner.
Understand the role in meeting National Patient Safety Goals.
