About The Position

The Radiology Technical Assistant performs routine clerical, patient-care, and technical duties to support department operations. The role assists with imaging examinations and procedures across multiple settings and serves as a first point of contact for customers seeking imaging services. Depending on operational needs, the assistant may work in various imaging sections and support multiple radiology modalities and clinical services.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• Superior interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask daily.
• Knowledge of computer applications, telephone etiquette, and customer service.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in healthcare or customer service is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patient-care team members and provide services including patient transport and transfer, check-in, exam review, visit preparation, and patient education.
• Assist with care of diagnostic radiology equipment and supplies.
• Set up and adjust diagnostic radiology equipment according to radiologist protocols for examinations.
• Receive and review requests for radiologic studies.
• Accept patients and assess their condition to determine appropriate handling and any special requirements.
• Explain procedures to patients and prepare them for radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment when assisting patients and staff with transport and imaging examinations or procedures.
• Perform duties required by the department to conduct examinations and procedures.
• Maintain inventory and follow safety regulations.
• Perform clerical duties in EMR and PACS systems.
