About The Position

Cabell Huntington Hospital, a member of Marshall Health Network, is a 303-bed teaching hospital serving West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, and southern Ohio. The hospital is affiliated with Marshall University Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing and is home to Hoops Family Children’s Hospital and Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Radiology Tech performs radiographic procedures by applying prescribed ionizing radiation to patients to assist the Radiologist with diagnostic imaging. The position requires current ARRT and West Virginia Medical Imaging License credentials, graduation from an accredited junior college or technical program, and CPR certification. No experience is required; one year of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture as required for exams and measure and administer IV contrast for procedures.
• Follow physician instructions, prepare radiography equipment, position patients, and obtain optimal diagnostic images.
• Communicate with and prepare patients, including asking them to remove garments or jewelry that may interfere with the procedure and explaining how the process works.
• Position patients properly to obtain X-rays.
• Set equipment to obtain the best density, detail, and contrast of the area being imaged.
• Take preventative steps to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
• Review available BUN/Creatinine and/or GFR lab results to determine renal function.
